Give me a break, woman. Does she honestly think she is saying anything new with the rant about girls on film being way too porn? Is this news to anyone? And the whole part at the end about Uma being lame in Kill Bill because of her desire to be with her daughter is complete hypocrisy and totally anti-woman. I feel like the feminist movement has evolved beyond opinions like this and if people don't stop giving them air space, it's going to make the rest of us look bad.
Posted by bluprnt at July 8, 2004 08:46 PMI would like to comment on your incite unto this rant by a member of the evermore-insane "progressive" feminist movement. When the feminist movement was born and began to take speed and notice early in the previous century, it did so with a desire to make men's and women's rights equivilant to eachother. Now it took time but by the final quarter of the 1900's, the feminist movement had met it's ORIGINAL claims by allowing women to vote, have an equal place in the employment as well as several other equal oppurtunities. What has been happening within the last twenty years is an escalating backlash in ideals. Where women are now having more rights bestowed unto them, several more are being removed from the male gender. These effects come in the name of women's rights, but they have a very definitive underlying theme of female superiority and domination.
If women wanted to be equal to men, they should have stopped the women's movement 20 years ago at the latest.
Of course the lives of men and women in previous generations were not equal at all, but the real key (one I'm sorry to say escapes even the most elite of progressive feminists) is to realize and extract what NEEDS to be changed, and what should be left alone.
The problem with the feminist movement is because they have never, never, actually taken the time to realize the real reason WHY there were such differences between the sexes in previous generations. Does the fact that women could only stay home and raise the children actually compensate for the fact that only men could be conscripted into the military and serve their own lives for the country? Only men could become police officers, which meant that only men would front themselves to protect the people by patrolling the dark streets and parks at night.
There should have been, and still there should be, limits to what needed and "needs" (their words) to be changed. I say this today when everyday I hear stories of how a man's life is taken from him because a woman LIED to the courts about how her husband beat her or her children. I say this everytime I see a commercial on television about how a man is now portrayed as "inferior" to his spouse, due to childishness, stupidity, even as subtle as a woman rolling her eyes at him. It crosses my mind when I hear arguements, speeches made, as you have said, bluprnt, about how a woman is upset over something as rediculous as "her desire to be with her daughter is complete hypocrisy and totally anti-woman"
And by the way, exactly what does that mean? Does it mean that a mother who cares for her child is weak in some way? That all feminists should leave their children at a foster home because it would be demeaning to her genders' principles to want to care for her own child? Sounds kind of rediculous to me. I'm surprised nobody laughed at that when it was said, because it makes absolutely no sense at all.
And speaking of things that are rediculous, there's still plenty of women against the idea of pornography. I only have a problem with that because: not ALL pictures with nudity in them are pornographic. Any artist from any country in the world at any time in history would say the exact same. (and on that note, even some pornography CAN be considered art) I also have a problem with their beliefs, mainly, because their only reason for it [porn] to be banned is because it's "degrading to women". How? Obviously the women being filmed or photographed doesn't think it's degrading. If they did, why would they be exposing themselves? And it's a known fact that adult film stars make a very nice living for themselves. Again, if they thought it was degrading, why would they choose it as a career? Finally, degrading to who exactly? Is it ALL women or just some? I have yet to know a male who will watch a porno film and then assume all women are like that. And if only to some, then whom? Not the actresses, I just went through why they don't find it so. If not them, then who I wonder?
Bluprnt, I'd like to end this by saying that feminists havent done very much at all to settle the gap of genders beyond the vote. It's all become a sea of hypocrisy really. The saddest thing is how they still have movements towards equality, but only when it benefits them individually. When's the last time you've seen a couple out for dinner and the girlfriend has been assumed to pick up the check, Or if that same couple finds the girlfriend driving the car, boyfriend in the passenger seat, and the man offers directions to the woman, Both of these without it resulting in an arguement over relationship semantics, or gender responsibility.
My point of this post is simply to all femenists: You made your point, give it a rest before you ruin our children's generation like you ruined ours.
