this is so odd:
it's odd because they're talking about money as a product. what's more, a product that needs to be marketed. marketed to what end? to be sold? to be popular? so people hoard it and smell it and rub it against their cheeks? that would be terrible for the economy....for people to hoard money rather than spend it. can you imagine? the new $20s and $100s saved in boxes with two dollar bills and Sakagewea golden coins?
it’s just funny really. money used to mean something (comparatively at least) it was a contract for a piece of gold or silver. then it transformed to a state-sponsored, faith-based system of collective illusion once we got rid of the gold standard: everyone believes in it so it’s real. and now it’s a commodity in and of itself? we need ad agencies and celebrities to sell us money?
i don’t get it.
any creative ideas for why this might be, i would love to hear them.
