I take back the mean things I said about Ben Domenech. The guy is a genius fraud artist. He has parlayed his daddy's connections to the GOP mafia into a job at Woodward & Bernstein's Washington Post after a stellar journalistic history at his college (before he dropped out), right wing publications, and a radical right wing website (where he called Coretta Scott King a "Communist" and Teresa Heinz Kerry an "oddly shaped egotistical ketchup-colored muppet"-- indeed!).
But where's the evidence of his fraud art genius? He may not be James Frey or J.T. Leroy, but he is a fraud journalist non-pareil. His entire journalistic corpus appears to have been lifted directly from other writers.
P. J. O'Rourke's humor. Movie reviews from Steve Rhodes, Salon's Stephanie Zacharek, Salon's Mary Elizabeth Williams, Cox News Service's Steve Murray, Liz Braun, AllMoviePortal.com, Dallas Morning News's Jane Sumner. News from the Washington Post's Edward Walsh and Roberto Suro and Michael Powell and Saundra Torry. Music reviews from Q's Paul de Noyer and Rolling Stone's James Hunter.
And that's just from a few people looking for a few days! Just think of what nuggets will be uncovered in the upcoming weeks. Domenech has "written" many pieces. For a brilliant oeuvre of fraud art, sir, I salute you.
(It does make sense now that he can't spell, though.)
